Loquens seeks to promote further advancement and understanding of the most distinguishing feature of human beings: speech. The complex nature of speech means that it can be approached from many different perspectives which go beyond the limits of the often isolated fields commonly imposed by academic research. Loquens aims to tackle the interdisciplinary character of speech analysis by publishing papers that deal with any and all aspects of the speech sciences. The following non-exhaustive list is an example of the possible fields where speech is the object of study: PHONETICS Acoustic, articulatory, and perceptual phonetics Phonetic variation (Diatopic, Diastratic, Diaphasic) Phonetic change (Sound change) Methodology of phonetic research Presentation and analysis of Speech Corpus PHONOLOGY Phonological theory Phonological phenomenon analysis (from any model or method) Computational phonology Diachronic phonology Historiography of Phonic Studies SPEECH TECHNOLOGY Speech recognition technology Speech synthesis Dialog systems Speech technology applications CLINICAL PHONETICS Pathology of language acquisition and development Speech and articulatory pathology (Neurological, Organic, Functional) Pathology of Hearing Speech Rehabilitation Techniques PHONETIC AND PHONOLOGICAL ACQUISITION (L1) Stages and processes of phonic development Acquisition of phonic components in bilingual children Evaluation of phonetic-phonological development Learning models and algorithms PHONETIC AND PHONOLOGICAL ACQUISITION (L2) Acquisition of the phonic component in L2 (in comparison with L1) Dialog between research in acquisition (L1/L2) and teaching practice Error diagnosis Contrastive Phonetics as applied to teaching/learning FORENSIC PHONETICS Phonetic characterization of voices Voice Comparison Automatic speaker identification and verification Methodology of judicial expertise VOICE SCIENCE Phonation Speech functions (Linguistic, Paralinguistic, Extralinguistic) Vocal Technique Vocal coaching /training Professional voice Papers submitted to Loquens should fall within the scope of the Journal, be scientifically sound and well written, and make an original and significant contribution to the field of study. |
